Beaumont Bridge

Opened to the public in July 2023, this 195m long composite concrete & steel bridge installation on State Highway 8 spans the Clutha / Mata-Au River at Beaumont in Central Otago. A suitable replacement for the former single lane steel lattice-girder bridge that served the comminity for 136 years.

Fielden were asked to manufacture the balustrade panels for the downstream side of the new bridge.

Keri from Aukaha wanted these panels to illustrate the nature of the alpine region with golden grasses draping the upside-down forms of mountain ranges. The perforations form the aesthetic of tukutuku panels with further corrugations reflecting the ridges & valleys of the region.
